Superintendent William Keith Ellison
William Keith Ellison, a native of Coffee County Alabama, is the fifth child of six born to Evangelist Ruby H. and the late Deacon Earnest Ellison, Sr., in Elba. Keith, as he is affectionately called by family and close friends, was raised in a rich heritage of holiness and has been a lifelong member of Harris Temple Church of God in Christ in Elba. He is the husband of Lady Sara Knight-Ellison and the father of two daughters (Joi and Amber). He is also the proud grandfather of two (Khristian and Ameya).
Having a high scholastic aptitude, Keith graduated an entire year early from Elba High School and matriculated to the J.F. Drake Technical College in Huntsville, Alabama. He later went into a career in Nuclear Technology and was employed with Farley Nuclear Plant, a subsidiary of Southern Company.
From a youth, Superintendent Ellison was anointed and elevated through the ranks of the church while serving as Musician, Choir Director, Deacon and Associate Minister. He is widely known and highly respected for his musical creativity, his spirit of excellence, gifting and anointing in the gospel music industry. To his credit, he has penned in excess of twenty original gospel songs and produced three albums. Having the favor of God extended to him, Superintendent Ellison served as an Executive Staff member of the International Music Department of the Church of God in Christ, under the administration of Professor Iris Stevenson.
Superintendent Ellison was appointed and installed as Senior Pastor of Harris Temple in 1991 and was appointed Pastor of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Enterprise, Alabama in 2001. Under his leadership, both congregations continue to experience tremendous growth, both spiritual and membership. Superintendent Ellison is no stranger to his jurisdiction, Alabama First. He has served in several capacities which include State Minister of Music, Chairman of AIM, and Examiner on the Ordination Board. He presently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Bishop’s Programs (COOBP) and Executive Board Member. In 1999 Pastor Ellison was elevated to the Board of Superintendents and was appointed to oversee the Brewton District of Alabama First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Superintendent Ellison also served the national church as a Local Coordinator of the 2013 International AIM Convention and a regional campaign coordinator for Bishop J. Drew Sheard. Superintendent Ellison most recently published his first book entitled “Silence Is Broken; The Word Is Out”.
In spite of his many ecclesiastical appointments, Superintendent Ellison is a friend to all and is respected both among fellow-clergy and those in civil ranks. Known for his life-changing teaching ministry with revelation knowledge, Superintendent Ellison travels extensively across the country ministering the Word of God. He truly is a man of faith and an upcoming General in the faith.
